This website is Postmarked by Abi, the film and photography work of Abi Yemane. This page explains, in plain language, what information the site handles, why, and what you can ask for.
Who runs this site
Postmarked by Abi is run by Abi Yemane as an individual. For anything about your information, write to postmarkedbyabi@gmail.com.
What the site collects
Messages you send. If you use the contact form, it collects your name, your email address, the topic you choose, your message, and your organization if you add one. A hidden field, invisible to people, catches automated spam.
Technical information needed to show you the site. Like any website, the servers that deliver these pages receive your IP address, your browser and device type, and the pages you request. This is handled by Netlify, the company that hosts the site.
The site has no accounts, no newsletter, no advertising, and no analytics. It does not set cookies, and it does not use your browser's storage to recognise you.
Why it is used
Messages are used only to read and reply to them. Technical information is used by the host to deliver the site and keep it secure. Nothing is sold, and nothing is used to build a profile of you.
Who else handles it
Netlify hosts the site and receives contact-form submissions, which are stored in the site's Netlify account and forwarded to Abi by email. Netlify checks every submission for spam using Akismet, a spam-filtering service, which receives the submission for that purpose. See Netlify's privacy policy for how it handles data.
YouTube and Vimeo. Films may be played through YouTube (in its privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo (with do-not-track). Nothing loads from either until you press play. Once you do, that platform's own privacy policy applies, and it may set cookies.
Instagram. Links to Instagram take you to Instagram, whose own policy applies there.
The typefaces are served from this site, so visiting does not contact any font service.
How long it is kept
Messages are kept for up to 12 months after the conversation ends, unless we are working together. Netlify keeps its own server logs for a limited period set by Netlify.
Where it is processed
Netlify is based in the United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where its providers operate.
Your choices and rights
You can ask what information the site holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for your messages to be deleted, by writing to postmarkedbyabi@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data-protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and it does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent a message, write and it will be deleted.
Keeping it safe
The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to messages is limited to the site's owner.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
